Women’s History Month

In 1980, U.S. President Jimmy Carter designated the week of March 8 as National Women’s History Week, urging nationwide participation. Carter emphasized the often-overlooked contributions of women, highlighting their achievements, leadership, courage, and strength in building America. In 1987, Congress extended the event to a month, officially designating March as Women’s History Month. Since then, Women’s History Month has been celebrated annually in the United States.
This month, the Anne Arundel County Public Library will host numerous events and activities honoring women's contributions in art, literature, science, and beyond. Explore the events
